REDUCTION SALE OF COWS FROM NIGLEY, EVIE - TOP PRICES AND HIGH AVERAGE
There was an OLA sale of BVD accredited breeding stock at Orkney Auction Mart on Thursday 06 February 2009.
The main feature was the reduction sale of 50 breeding cows and in-calf heifers from J & E Miller, Nigley, Evie. Their mainly Simmental cross cows and heifers are in calf to Simmental and Salers bulls and met one of the highest averages in Orkney Mart history with each lot averaging £1,146.20 per head and selling up to £1,420 for a three year old Simmental cross cow in calf to a Salers bull.
A 2002 born Aberdeen Angus cross cow from G & S Linnitt, Gaira, South Ronaldsay sold for £1,160 and an eight year old Simmental bull from A & F Clark, Quoydale, Hoy realised £1,140.
